Layered Cloth Presentation by Caroline Moore and Workshop

  • Community Centre, Church of St. Thérèse, Mt Merrion A94 R2Y4 Ireland (map)

Presentation:

Caroline is a textile artist living in Newry.  She exhibits her work with Cork Textiles Network, Clanrye Lace Group and Ceangailte and responds to Open Calls and invitations. Her work is made predominantly with Irish linen and vintage pieces using a variety of cross-cultural textile and embroidery techniques to manipulate fabric.

Workshop:

13:30-16:00

Cost: €50

Caroline will facilitate a Boro inspired, slow-stitch workshop in the afternoon. Make your own piece of layered cloth, reinforced with stitch and patches incorporating cross cultural techniques informed by Japanese Boro, Indian Banjara, Kantha, Kawandi to name a few, using a simple sashiko or running stitch.  Each cloth will be unique to you depending on how you use the stitch and on the placement of your fabric pieces.

You will have the opportunity to look at many of Caroline’s personal samples and vintage pieces demonstrating how you can utilise your piece of cloth to make your own usable pouch or pocket.
