Jean Long is an established hand knitter and lives with her family in East Ferry, Cork. 

She is involved in the Geansaí Chléire project which was launched in Cape Clear during Heritage Week, August 2023. Following the discovery of a 1924 geansaí, knitted by Catherine Cadogan in Cape Clear, Jean was asked to reverse engineer the original and recreated the pattern so that the geansaí could become part of the textile history of the island community.
